Everybody has some stress, but hardly anyone has the life skills to deal with it. I will help you to have control over the stress in your life, by teaching you how to change your response to stress and worry, which will lead to a stronger immune system, increased stamina and an enhanced quality of life! When people try to get things done when their minds are full of worry and their bodies are full of stress, their performance, relationships and enjoyment all suffer. Many people have been so stressed, for such a long time that they have become used to it. They don’t realise they are stressed, or how much better their life can be. Quite often it takes a relationship break-up, the loss of a job or a physical illness to make them aware that something is wrong.Psychologists call the cumulative effects of adapting to more and more uncomfortable circumstances ‘background stress’ and chances are, you are experiencing it right now, unless you are really good at relaxing deeply!Stress in the body often goes unnoticed for a long time, but can show itself in the form of bad moods, loss of a sense of humour, headaches, bumping into things, making silly mistakes and ultimately even depression, anxiety and physical illness. It is only when we start to really relax, that we begin to notice the tension that was there all the time.Every day we have demands & stresses, like traffic driving to work, arguments, unexpected bills, or the children misbehaving. These all have an effect on us, like ‘Fight or flight’, where our body produces adrenaline into our bloodstream in readiness for action. Modern stress has been described by Dr Hans Selye.‘It is not the event, but rather our interpretation of it that causes our emotional reaction.’So with my help, you will naturally begin to interpret your experiences differently and begin to respond more effectively to the events in your life. Then you can set about changing whatever needs to be changed on the outside, from a place of relaxed alertness on the inside.A few small things can go a long way to helping you relax:* Deep Breathing. Being stressed affects our breathing & it is amazing how taking a deep breath, right down into your tummy & then exhaling slowly, can relax you.* Taking time out. Just sitting with a book, gardening, walking etc., without any responsibility for a few minutes every day will recharge your batteries, giving you more energy to tackle important jobs.* Reduce your Caffeine intake. In general, caffeine is thought to be safe, but for some people it can have dreadful effects
